Welcome to the land of music. During May/June 2000 Cuba awarded their finest musicians and their productions in the second Cubadisco Music Fair. Surprisingly, a new band showed up with a breaking point proposal. Sin Palabras has brought techno music to the land of Rumba! Their album Orisha Dreams, in its second release by a local label, received three nominations in front of a stout jury that couldn’t believe that fusion would be possible after all. But yes, best design, best recording and best fusion album nominee. So be it. Now, altogether with Son, Rumba, Salsa… and whatever the Cuban rhythms list is made of, certainly goes the Cuban techno. Sin Palabras have been finally awarded with the best fusion album! Unfortunately, they didn’t performed at the closing show, and there wasn’t any speech either. But they’re thankful to all those who contribute to the success of the CD, and of course, they didn’t let them down either, did they? They have furiously played for a year those ten tracks of “Cuban techno” and are beginning to see the lights. |
